10, 000 National Guardsman are having to repay bonuses for re-enlistments in which most if not all did tours overseas in combat areas. Areas in Afghanistan and Iraq, some of which were injured. These servicemen re-enlisted in good faith for these bonuses, not intentionally knowing these bonuses were not allowed. Congress needs to pass a proposal or amendment to forgive the debt for these service members. We ask them and their families to give up a lot to serve in these areas risking, life and limb, we can at least not have them pay now for a mistake the government made with this.
