Call for an amendment to the Constitution (amending 27th), in order to allow for a reduction in the salary of Congress.

Created by J.D. on August 17, 2013

The 27th amendment was created in order to curb Congress's power to raise their own salaries before an election. However, in light of the recent sequester, the amendment was interpreted such that Congress could not lower their pay as part of the very same cuts.
It makes no practical sense for congress to have a limit placed upon themselves regarding a reduction in their own salaries. And it makes even less sense to exclude the ones responsible for the national budget, and consequently, the sequester itself, from the hurtful cuts. Especially considering the fact that the reduction in their salaries was going to be a voluntary action.
