Call on Canadian PM Stephen Harper to meet with Chief Theresa Spence, on behalf of First Nations people everywhere.

Created by W.K. on December 28, 2012

Chief Theresa Spence of the Attawapiskat people of Canada has been on hunger strike since December 10 to protest the actions of Canada’s Government under Bill C-45 in regard to First Nations’ Treaty Rights Canada’s land, waters and skies. We call on President Obama to urge Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper to meet with Chief Theresa to hear the concerns of Canada’s First Nations people, concerns of the Earth herself. Behind the banner of Idle No More, Indigenous people and allies worldwide are standing up for sovereignty and the environment. We want President Obama to acknowledge First Nation issues domestically and abroad and insist on recognition of Treaties. What happens to the neighbors eventually happens to you. Chief Theresa’s life and the life of the Earth are on the line.
