In Article II, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution, the process for electing the president is established. It follows a system in which, instead of selecting a president based on who gets the most support (popular vote), it selects a president based on individual winner-take-all contests. Not only does this dramatically skew the voting power of people in different states (a Wyoming voter has 4 times as much representation as a Californian, for example), but it also can cause the result of the election to be different from what The People decided. This has happened five times now, the most recent occasions being in 2000 and now 2016. Calling on Congress to abolish the electoral college is necessary to the keeping our democracy in the hands of The People.
