Two of the last five Presidential elections have resulted in the selection of a President that did not win the majority of votes across the country. The Electoral College fails to represent the true preference of the people and should be abolished. The signatories of this petition call on President Barack Obama in his remaining weeks in office to call on Congress to propose and vote on an amendment to the Constitution to abolish the Electoral College and elect future Presidents by popular majority, effective by the 2020 Presidential election.
