This a solely American voting process that was established at the Constitutional Convention of 1787 meant to represent those who were uneducated and unable to acquire information about the policies and future plans of their president elects. This worked for a nation that wasn't as connected or educated as our nation in 2016. "In fall 2016, some 20.5 mi. students are expected to attend American colleges and universities, constituting an increase of about 5.2 mi. since fall 2000" (http://nces.ed.gov/fastfacts/display.asp?id=372) We aren't an uneducated people anymore, and our votes should be treated as such. We have now elected 2 presidents since 2000 the nation didn't choose to run our country. Ending the Electoral College is the 1st step towards the change we want to see in our government.
