We represent the millions of Americans who live with crushing student loan debt, procured in the pursuit of higher education. In an attempt to make our lives better and become productive members of society, we have chosen to enroll in colleges, graduate and doctoral programs at an immense cost to our standard of living; yet, as the most educated members of American society, we are crushed by an inability to repay student debt and often pushed into default due either to an unavailability of jobs or in some circumstances, the debt itself prevents us from becoming what we set out to be. Blanket public and private loan forgiveness is a reset button that will allow us to put that money into the pockets of business owners. If banks and auto manufacturers can be bailed out of debt, why can't we?
