TPP is a groundbreaking and transformative free trade agreement between the United States and 11 other countries in the Pacific Rim. TPP will 1) support high paying jobs as US companies that export pay workers 18% more than those that don't, 2) increase US market share in a region containing 10 trillion USD worth of import markets, which has been steadily declining since 2000, 3) enforce greater standards protecting workers' rights, the environment, and information technology, and 4) bring Asia-Pacific countries together under US leadership, promoting joint economic growth and national & regional security. President-elect Trump plans to withdraw the US from TPP, which would compromise US economic and security goals in the Asia-Pacific, and thus Congress must approve in lame-duck session.
