When the ACA was passed into law, insurance companies were told that their existing plans would be grandfathered into law as long as they did not change them. The companies agreed to this. And yet they changed them.
But it is worse - they changed them (Thereby making the plans illegal at the end of 2013) and did not tell their customers of that fact. They knowingly sold products that were flawed and would disappear in three years.
The basis of any market is the existence of the informed consumer. The insurance companies recalcitrance to tell their customers of the fact that their plans would be cancelled undermines that very foundation of the market. We demand that these companies appear in front of congress to defend their choices.
