The current Senate has shirked their constitutional duty to advise President Obama on the current Supreme Court nominee, Merrick Garland. Since the President has the power to convene the Senate, President Obama should call an extraordinary session of the Senate for this sole purpose. Since the current session ends on Dec. 30, the extrordinary session should take place starting Jan. 2, 2017, and continue until Jan. 19, 2017, or until a vote occurs.
