On Nov. 6th, 2015 Sen. Ted Cruz attended the National Religious Liberties Conference where he spoke on stage alongside Pastor Kevin Swanson, who is known for staunchly advocating for “the death penalty” for homosexuals.
While both Mr. Swanson & Mr. Cruz have the same 1st Amendment rights as any citizen, Senator Cruz is an elected official whose sworn duty is to “support and defend the Constitution”. It is a conflict of interest for an elected official to be seen in support, in any way, of an individual or organization that actively calls for the state-sanctioned execution of law abiding citizens.
These associations directly contradict the responsibilities of a US Senator and Mr. Cruz must be asked to resign his office on the grounds that he is unwilling to perform his sworn duties.
