Tommie Smith and John Carlos were given lifetime bans by the IOC for raising their fists on the medal podium when they received their medals to show solidarity and support for people not just in the United States, but all over the world that were fighting for their basic civil and human rights.
For this action, they received lifetime bans from the IOC.
It's past time for the IOC to lift this ban and apologize to these two brave men.
