Japan has ignored treaties banning the killing of whales and ignored the U.N. decision that the killing of whales was not justified for educational/scientific purposes. The US government should call on Japan to cease the killing of whales and respect international law and international sentiment that whale hunting is unjustified. A comprehensive and and staged diplomatic plan should be made to dissuade Japan from engaging in whale hunting, after considering all options of legal and physical intervention.
