A Call for Justice in Response to Ferguson and Staten Island.

Created by A.B. on December 04, 2014

Dear President Obama,
The recent injustices in Ferguson and Staten Island have prompted me to consider changes to our justice system. I would like to see a movement, perhaps spear-headed by you if you have the political fortitude, that results in laws dictating that instances of police violence cannot be investigated by the local prosecutors. It is a clear conflict of interest and will continue to result in the police, who should be serving and protecting the citizens, living above the law. Independent prosecutors should be appointed by federal courts to ensure that no local interference can hamper an investigation.

I believe Congress has the ability to pass such a law, via the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment, and that such a law is direly needed.

Thank you for your time.
