Serving as an elected official should be a privilage, not a career opportunity. Reasonable term limits for Senators and Representatives (not to exceed 12 years total service in the Legislative Branch) should help reduce gridlock, stagnation and corruption in our nation's leadership. Career politicians have become complacent in their duties and have lost sight of the interests of the people that they have been elected to serve. This proposal would help provide a fresh body of government with higher ethical standards that is closer to the reality of the citizens that they have sworn to serve. thank you for your consideration.
