The concealed carry of firearms by law-abiding Americans reduces crime and is a right guaranteed by the 2nd Amendment, forbids infringement of the right of the people to bear arms. The state of Illinois denies this right to citizens, but allows politicians to carry. In California, the decision to issue is left to the discretion of the local sheriff, leading to a constructive ban on concealed carry for all but celebrities and wealthy donors in most coastal counties-the counties which are also the most dangerous.
I ask President Obama to send to Congress a national right to carry bill, one declaring unconstitutional all bans and constructive bans on non-felons who have completed a training course from carrying a firearm for the defense of their lives, bodies, and property.
