There has been mutual interest between NATO the members and Ukraine for years but this came to an end when a pro-Russian president "won" a questionable election. With the new president and escalating involvement of Russia in Ukraine now is the time for president Obama to call on NATO and Ukraine to restart talks of membership. Any further incursions on Ukraine's sovereignty would then require a response, by treaty obligation, of all NATO members.
