Thomas Friedman is sham perpetrated upon the American public. A platform like the paper of record confers a legitimacy upon him he does not deserve. Every inane metaphor and vacuous platitude he pens and publishes in the New York Times diminishes the level of discourse and harms the American Public. His lack of nuance is so astonishing it borders on parody. While his insights into occurrences like the Boston Bombing (spoiler alert: it means we need a carbon tax) are unique, they are only so because they are so abjectly moronic.
While the President may not have firing power over the Times editorial board, he wields the most imposing bully pulpit and should put it to a good use. In an era marked by rank partisanship, surely we can all agree on this.
