We ask that the Obama administration call for an official parade in our nation's capitol to celebrate the accomplishments of our Armed Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Traditionally, upon the end of a military conflict, our Commander-in-Chief calls for a military review in Washington: A parade to both welcome our veterans home and to signify the end of hostilities.
While it is the Obama administration's current position that no parade will take place until the end of both conflicts, the Iraq War ended in December 2011. Our Iraq veterans, having come home three years ago, have not received anything other than a nominal welcome home. Our nation needs this official gesture to begin its collective healing, lest this generation of veterans also be forgotten.
