The recent action of violence by law enforcement in the state of North Dakota has shown that they cannot be trusted to fairly keep the peace with peaceful protestors. The federal government has an obligation to protect its people from harm from a state that is willfully harming people. We are calling on the Obama administration to mobilize the National Guard to protect water protectors peacefully protesting the DAPL pipeline as well as keep the peace between the state law enforcement, DAPL, and water protectors. The actions of the night of November 20th, 2016 have shown that the state of North Dakota cannot be trusted to keep this peace, so the federal government should instead.
