On January 14, 2016, Katherine Clark, Congresswomen of the 5th District of Massachusetts, tweeted that she had sent a formal letter to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Apple CEO Tim Cook demanding that the 'Stolen!' mobile app be removed from the App Store.
She makes several claims including how the app can be used as an attack mechanism towards women and people of minorities. Such a claim is ill-informed because any virtual platform can be used for bullying. Being proactive would involve working with the platform and not against it.
The remainder of her claims are unjustified and call into question her use of federal resources and tax dollars to conduct such a report. We call for the White House to review the Congresswoman's reasonings as to why she made this even remotely a priority.
