We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

A call for a revision of the credit scoring system to give consumers a more fair opportunity in financing.

Created by A.E. on July 23, 2016

Under our current system, a consumer's credit score is calculated based on their debt and how they have repaid it. However, not all financial hardships should be treated equally. Not all consumers with outstanding debt have been irresponsible. This petition is a call to change the current practice of consumers having one credit score for all debt. Under a new system, consumers would have three separate credit scores; one for housing, including mortgages as well as rental payments, one for vehicle loans, and a third for all other debt. This would greatly enhance the chances of owning a home for many Americans and reduce predatory lending.
