We propose a vote on 1. universal background checks, including transactions at private gun shows and 2. a ban on assault weapons.
We call for universal background checks because we understand that certain people should not possess firearms.
We call for a ban on assault weapons because it reduces the killing power of murders.
These security measures are basic and are supported by a majority of Americans. It should not be difficult for the U.S Congress to hold an up or down vote.
