A Call for True Marriage Equality
It is time to de-criminalize Polygamy in the United States. Polygamy, the act of being married to more than one partner at a time, dates back many centuries as an acceptable practice in many different cultures and religions. Many Native American tribes practiced Polygamy in North America prior to the founding of the United States and many citizens of the United States practiced Polygamy for many years after the United States became an independent nation. Later the United States government actively persecuted polygamists and then outlawed Polygamy in the mid-19th century. Polygamy is a personal choice and an act that should be protected as both a personal freedom and as a religious freedom.
