A Call For Voting Machine Transparency

Created by C.C. on May 09, 2016

On April 5th, 2016 the Chicago Election Board held a meeting where they discussed the audit for the votes cast in the March 15th, 2016 general primary. Auditors reportedly had to erase a candidate’s votes and add to the other candidate’s tally to force the hand count of the audit to match the board’s official results. Integrity in our voting process is essential for a true democracy.

We the people ask:
1. All electronic voting systems are made open source allowing anyone to view the code used to write the software
2. The same version of the software used in the voting machines during the March 15th primary be released to the public to account for any discrepancies in the software

Privacy matters! This would not disclose any votes or voters-only the technology used to count the votes.
