The Harlem Shake is becoming a rallying cry for freedom from oppression in countries like Tunisia and Egypt, where students protesting at the increasing Islamist tendencies of their ruling elites have experienced repression and police intimidation.
More than that, the Harlem Shake is a phenomenon of our generation, uniting people across age, race, gender, sexual orientation and profession.
We call on the White House to demonstrate the strength of its commitment to democracy by joining in this global phenomenon and making a White House Harlem Shake.
