The agricultural provision in the US/Mexico NAFTA agreement is overly "liberalized", which allows for blatant disregard for US anti-cruelty laws regarding the humane transport and slaughter of livestock. Horses are not a socially accepted form of meat in the US, and most citizens who were polled on this issue are strongly against horse slaughter for these purposes. Why should US citizens continue to turn a blind eye to this morally repugnant trade deal with Mexico? Will you help these unwanted horses find a better end than a terrifying and tortuous death at the hands of those who operate within the highly unethical and inhumane Mexican slaughterhouse industry? We implore President-elect Trump to include this important issue in his resolve to repair the damage NAFTA has cause our country.
