cancel DHS' contracts to buy 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition, assault weapons, and military vehicles for use in the US.

Created by C.M. on March 12, 2013

The Department of Homeland Security has contracted to buy 1.6 billion rounds of ammunition, including hollow point rounds. In addition, DHS has bought fully automatic assault weapons, and military grade tanks - all for use domestically within the U.S. The explanation offered that the ammunition is for training purposes and to obtain a bulk discount isn't satisfactory or believable, as this quantity of ammo would supply 100 years of training exercises, and hollow points are not used in training. This level of stockpiling of weaponry by a government department which operates domestically within our homeland, and is not part of our military, is disturbing and inappropriate. We citizens demand that our President and Congress cancel these contracts, and investigate DHS' questionable actions.
