The F-35 was designed as an affordable multi-role stealth fighter for use by the United States military. Over 15 years since the first prototype F-35 took to the skies this program has morphed into the most expensive defense program in history and has resulted in an aircraft that is over-weight, under-powered, less maneuverable than the aircraft it is deigned to replace, fraught with mechanical and software faults and generally unable to perform it's intended missions.
It is in the interests of our nation to immediately cancel the F-35 program and invest the money saved in restarting F-22 production and modernizing our existing fighters. These measures will be budget neutral and result in a vastly more capable force structure, greatly improving our national defense at no extra cost.
