Today, it was announced that Marian Robinson, the mother-in-law of President Obama, was granted a lifetime, $160,000 a year pension in connection with babysitting the President's daughters. Mrs. Robinson has resided in the White House during her son-in-law's term in office. It is inappropriate for the Federal government to pay a relative of the President for babysitting services, much less to provide that person with a pension. Furthermore, $160,000 a year pension following 8 years of employment in that field of work is grossly disproportionate. It is submitted that if Marian Robinson were not a relative of the President, she would not be receiving this amount. The excess amount is evidence of corruption.
