At a time of unprecedented budget cuts and government furloughs, it is up to the leader of the free world to set an example for the rest of America. Obama’s trip could cost the American taxpayer $60 million to $100 million based on the costs of similar African trips in recent years. The fact that his family also plans on attending is outrageous. If this is a serious government trip then the American taxpayer should not have to foot the bill to send the family along as well. If the President wishes to bring his family then he should pay the bill for that portion of the trip.
