Congress must immediately order the US Navy to cancel the development and construction of the LCS program. The funds allocated to the LCS program should be used by the navy to contract, design, and develop a more reliable, combat survivable, and combat dominant frigate platform to replace the aging Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigates scheduled to be decommissioned by 2020. Using proven ship building methods and relying on combat tested defence platforms the navy could easily have such a class of ship built and commisioned by 2020 at the fraction of the cost of the failed LCS program. Looking upon the current state of events around the world America's Navy can not allow itself to become so limited and so vulnerable as the LCS program would make it. A vulnerable navy is a vulnerable America.
