The total cost of the 2012 congressional and presidential elections in the U.S. almost reached seven billion dollars. Not only is this a waste of many Americans' money, these candidates are too susceptible to be infuenced by generous corporations and interest groups. In additon, incumbants today spend to much time worrying about raising funds for their next election rather than fulfilling their duty in office. Placing a set limit on the amount of money one can use for his or her campaign would not only save time, but also make elections more democratic and for the people.
