Congress and White House officials should be in office for the sole purpose of serving the people. There should be no financial motives behind running for office. While in office, officials should be restricted to salaries equal to the average annual household income of their constituents (for state officials this would be the average in their state, for federal officials this would be the nation's average).
As a part of this annual income cap said officials should no longer be allowed to accept contributions from corporate entities or individuals with ownership or majority share interests in corporate entities, including for campaign purposes. Individual contributions should be limited to a minimal dollar amount.
