Cap Federal Aid to States at 100% of their Federal Tax Contribution, Refund Surpluses to Taxpayers in Responsible States

Created by J.R. on November 14, 2012

Let's help states get serious about fiscal responsibility by limiting the Federal Funds they can collect to the amount they contribute in taxes.

Surely those most vocal about balancing budgets would welcome such fiscal handcuffs being applied to the liberal bastions that take more than they contribute.

Wait, what?

The greediest states consistently vote for the other guys? And their residents are the most vocal proponents of recession? Well, this seems to line up very nicely indeed:

Federal Spending Received per Dollar of Taxes Paid

1. New Mexico $2.03
2. Mississippi $2.02
3. Alaska $1.84
4. Louisiana $1.78
5. West Virginia $1.76
6. North Dakota $1.68
7. Alabama $1.66
8. South Dakota $1.53
9. Kentucky $1.51
10. Virginia $1.51
