cap private student loans and lower federal student loan interest rates. If the government can bail out, they can cap.

Created by T.A. on July 15, 2014

Obama's plan to relieve the burden of student loan debt only touches a bit of all student loan debt; only the government provided student loans. Private student loans comprise the most of all student loan debt in the US. Government loans actually come with double the amount of interest than private loans. So this SEEMS like a good deal, but it's really NOT. If the government truly wants to do something to help today's debt enslaved graduates, then cap the amount of loans private corporations like Sallie Mae can give out. If the government can bail out such corporations, then they can cap the provision of their loans. Only then will colleges and universities throughout the country realize that they don't have easy access to a flood of money and only then will their tuition rates go down.
