The senate is paid well and its salary is set publicly. Its easy for anyone to see whats happening. Throughout American history this has been a fairly generous wage by the standards of a public servant. In recent times this has changed. There are now thousands of federal workers that make more than a senator. This ranges from a slight increase for some members of the Transportation Department to multi-million dollar salaries and multi-million dollar bonuses for the heads of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. This should stop.
