America was founded upon the principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. All three of these core values are undermined by the shadow of the targeted killing of American citizens on American soil through the use of unmanned aerial vehicles: drones. Extra-legal killings of American citizens without due process of law contravenes historic Constitutional protections, hard-won civil liberties, and even our basic human rights. The idea that a nebulous, arbitrary designation ("terrorist") gives our government a free hand to murder its own citizens without trial or evidence is a threat to the liberties and lives of all Americans, present and future. There can be no middle ground on this issue; it strikes at the very core of our nation and the reasons for its existence.
