Nye County was receiving 16 million annually from the Yucca Mountain project. For this reason, Nye County continues to petition DOE in hopes they'll be licensed. The county has nothing to lose if waste enters groundwater, spills occur, or other unplanned disasters take place. The county should not receive any money, the property owners are taking all the risks of having to relocate if an incident occurs. For this reason, if licensing were to occur, annual reparation to Nye County Nevada property owners instead of county and local governments would preclude our inconvenient truth situation and stop the county from continual petitions to DOE.
