This petition is to remove all financial aid and impose sanctions on Uganda, due to their recent anti-gay legislation. As the Ugandan people apparently and overwhelmingly support this oppression there should be no qualms about imposing sanctions. In fact, the President of Uganda stated on Monday, Feb 24th, that he would not care if the 'West' were to stop providing aid, he would find it elsewhere. We should take him up on his offer and use those monies elsewhere. Additionally, US companies should not be allowed to support a nation that openly opposes human rights and actively persecutes selected individuals on the basis of gender and identity.
