Israel knew from the very beginning that all settlement activity in Occupied Territories was, and is, in direct contravention to the Geneva Convention. Judge Theodor Meron, counsel to the Israeli Foreign Ministry, warned that settlements were illegal just after the Six-Day War. The settlements serve little purpose but to disenfranchise and humiliate the struggling Palestinian inhabitants. There can be little peace with the continuation of these settlements and it is time for the United States to stop condoning the belligerent and reckless behavior of the Israeli government. It's time for the U.S. government to pressure Israel into doing the right thing and put Middle East peace back on track!
