The Government is increasing beef, poultry, dairy, and pork prices artificially with these subsidies.
Cease Ethanol subsidies. Initially, they were created to promote energy replacement when oil was around ~$30 per barrel.
The subsidies are no longer necessary to compete with oil, which is more than triple that price. It would still be economically enticing with crude at such high prices.
Ethanol subsidies increase the cost of corn to growers. High feed prices for poultry, beef, pork, and other meat products means increasing costs for producers and reducing profit. Reduced profits in these areas deter new producers, increases costs to consumers, and reduces meat inventory within the US. Make it more economical for producers and consumers, stop paying the ethanol industry.
