The time for cessation of extended benefits to retired politicians has come. The inordinate expense that follows this practice is one issue that continues to add to our fiscal crisis. Lifetime benefits of this sort are no longer offered in the private sector and shouldn't be in the public sector as well. Continue health care coverage, but strip down the rest of the pay and retirement benefits. Social security is good enough for those that are goverened, it should be good enough for those in charge.
