I urge the president to reconsider his policy for lowering the flag to half staff, specifically due to terrorist or criminal acts, not our usual observances.
Sadly, President Obama's presidency is noted as having ordered the flag to be flown at half staff more than any previous presidency. Almost half of this total is due to terrorist attacks, or criminal attacks, that have left our nation in mourning. This cannot continue, lest we simply be a nation in nearly perpetual mourning, never proudly displaying our nation's flag without some event causing us to lower it. Over time, it very well may become some twisted goal by terrorists to have us lower our flag in perpetuity.
We should proudly fly our flag without concern that some criminal or terrorist will make us lower it.
