cease minting pennies.

Created by K.K. on May 07, 2014

Pennies are no longer worth minting. It costs 1.8 cents to make every penny. Thus, with over 4 billion pennies minted every year, we can see that this is a phenomenal waste of money. Other countries (Canada and Australia, for example) have axed the one cent piece, and simply rounded prices to the nearest nickle. This is a sensible idea that can save the government time and money. One could make the argument that nickles and dimes, both having very limited buying power, could be axed as well. But, for now, let us focus on the penny.
Sack the penny, it makes sense.
