Cease paying the members of Congress that refuse agreement to raise the federal debt ceiling

Created by M.T. on January 14, 2013

If the members of Congress fail to agree on raising the debt ceiling, they are then in effect "failing to pay America's bills on time", causing a Government Shutdown.

In the event of a Government Shutdown, the government stops providing all but "essential" services. Social Security checks and veterans benefits will be delayed.

I petition that in the event of a congressional imposed government shutdown, congress will in effect become "non-essential" employees, by direct law and will no longer be paid, use any government assets, offices or benefits associated with that office until appropriate funds are approved and appropriated budget.

I petition they put their money on the line, not our military, veterans, elderly and people who actually do the job they are paid to perform.
