Cease supporting Austerity Economics and promote government programs in the spirit of FDR that get people back to work.

Created by L.P. on April 25, 2013

This petition is based on a message posted on Whitehouse.gov.
"Dear Mr. President,
This week a peer reviewed paper was released by UMass grad student, Thomas Herndon, correcting and reversing the famous study of Harvard Economists Reinhart and Rogoff, which concluded that austerity was needed to revitalize the economy.
The paper by Reinhart and Rogoff has been used in the U.S. and around the world to justify austerity measures. Even though the Harvard paper was NOT peer reviewed.
Mr. President, please reverse your support of austerity economics. If you won't consider Mr. Herndon's paper, perhaps reflecting on FDR's experience during the Great Depression will help. The best way to put people back to work is not to fire them!"
