Cease the taxation of cryptocurrencies and officially recognize cryptocurrencies as legitimate currencies

Whereas cryptocurrencies such as litecoin and bitcoin are not considered legitimate currencies and are thus taxed as property instead, this petition seeks to bring about the cessation of taxation of cryptocurrencies and/or at the very least have them be placed within the same category as actual currencies such as the United States Dollar, the British Pound, or the European Union's Euro. The main reason for the existence of cryptocurrencies is to provide a decentralized method of payment to people on the internet. Thus, the government should have no hand in the operations of cryptocurrencies. However, if the taxation of cryptocurrencies is to continue, cryptocurrencies should at least be considered to be actual currencies, seeing as it is possible to purchase items with cryptocurrencies.
