In the event of Donald J. Trump winning the U.S. presidential election in November 2016, President Obama should work in a bipartisan manner with his colleagues in congress to facilitate the peaceful, legitimate, and expeditious transfer of the Seattle metropolitan area to the nation of Canada. Ten counties in western Washington (Whatcom, Skagit, Snohomish, King, Pierce, Thurston, Mason, Kitsap, Island, and San Juan) should be ceded to the Canadian government after prudent and timely revisions to the Oregon Treaty of 1846. Negotiations should be finalized by 1 January 2017 and final transfer of citizenry, territory, and legal jurisdiction before 20 January 2017.
