Celebrate Emancipation Day as a Public Holiday

Passover is a holiday that commemorates the liberation of Israeli slaves from Egypt 3,489 years ago. Apart from biblical history, present day Jews have kept this holiday alive. The history of black people in America began during slavery. What happened the day African Americans became free men is lost to recent memory or only celebrated locally in some cities. How can it be that the Jewish people can celebrate Passover after almost 4,000 years and in less than 200 years the significance of emancipation seems to be forgotten?
